Azeem Ibrahim was the son of Mohammed and Khurshida Ibrahim. They owned a grocer's shop on Maryhill Road, and he was the fourth child of his parents. Nevertheless, the couple had six children, including sons and daughters.

He grew up in a close household and had a good upbringing. However, when a supermarket opened near his father's shop, he was in his mid-teens. As a result, his family business failed, and they became bankrupt. As a result, they got forced to relocate out of their Garnethill home. They then shifted into a council house in Anderston.
