Carl Payne met Melika Payne on the sets of Martin. The couple dated for some time before getting married in 1992. 

Born as Melika Michem on April 10, Carl is not her first public affair. Between 1984 and 1987, she got entangled with Bobby Brown, a rapper, and singer. After a year of their rendevous, she gave birth to her son, Landon Brown. 

At 17, he was introduced into fatherhood while his career was taking off. He could not handle the commitment as their relationship dwindled. 

According to BET, she met her future husband in 1992 when Payne starred in the sitcom Martin as sparks flew.

They had said their vows by November and had a long-lasting married life. Carl was gracious enough to welcome Landon as his own, raising the six-year-old as his eldest-born son.

Indeed, Carl has been vocal about his long yet content married life, going on the FOX 5 show Good Day D.C to dish some secrets to making it work.

Carl And Melika Are Still Together After Two Decades

Even twenty years are not enough to overcome differences as a blissful couple, Carl and Melika parted ways in 2014.

The news was supposed to be hushed, but TMZ obtained a report about an alleged document filed to the LA County Superior Court by the unhappy spouse.

Melika stated her reason for separation as having irreconcilable differences, asking for sole physical and joint legal custody of their shared children. 

But a twist came when they never acted on the documents, deciding to stay together. She withdrew the petitions as they remained happily together.

Carl and Melika are still in love after two decades and have four kids. 

In October 2019, he took to Instagram to wish his baby mama her birthday, saying she was a blessing to his life and a shining orb for their four children.

The pair was on a lovely dinner as Melika could not hold her emotions and embraced her husband in the middle of the restaurant.

Carl Is Not The Biological Father Of Their Eldest Landon

35-year-old Landon Brown was only six years old when Carl adopted him after his marriage with Melika. 

His true father, Bobby Brown, and then-girlfriend Melika separated as they were still kids when he was born. She raised him as a single mom until she met the love of her life.

Brown junior has grown into a muscled singer-songwriter with a song ready to stream. He also has a daughter who he adored to the moon and back. He has a son whom he lost to a drug overdose in 2020.

Melika and Carl Have Three Sons

Melika and Carl are proud parents to two sons, Malek and Carl Anthony Payne III. They have a third son named Shey.

The second youngest son Malek began showing an interest in showbiz when he cultivated his physique. He got a chance to showcase his talents when he co-starred in the 2017 film, Misguided Behavior.
