In an interview, he openly reveals the roots of his moniker, which he claims started as a joke. After that, the term stuck with him, and people referred to him simply as "Hollywood" everywhere he went, as per The Sun

Dobey started his career as a darts player in 2010.

Darts has a long run in his family, and he competed at the county level, winning local events and everything in Northumberland.

He subsequently earned his PDC Tour card on his first try in 2015, launching his professional darts career. Dobey has advanced four times in the past five years to the round of 16 in the World Darts Championship.

According to the BBC, Dobey stated in the ongoing World Championship that his 4-1 triumph over Gary Anderson at the World Darts Championship was fueled by his opponent's unpleasant comments.

Anderson, a two-time world champion from Scotland, grabbed the first set in the third-round encounter at Alexandra Palace, but Englishman Dobey won the next four.
