Gladys Knight is a seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer from the United States. She roses to fame with the hits she recorded with her family music group, The Pips, in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

She has created two hit Billboard hot 100 singles ("Midnight Train to Georgia" and "That's What Friends Are For" with Sir Elton John, Dionne Warwick, and Stevie Wonder), as well as eleven other top R&B singles and six leading R&B albums.

Knight was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside The Pips. Additionally, she sang the soundtrack for the James Bond movie Licence to Kill in 1989.

She began her farewell tour of the UK in October 2009, featuring Dionne Warwick as a special guest and Tito Jackson serving as her support act.

Gladys Knight Illness: Is She Sick?

Singer Gladys Knight revealed that she has pancreatic cancer, the same illness that took the life of her late friend and fellow soul icon, Aretha Franklin.

But, hours after she opened up about her illness, the singer's representative denied the report. "Gladys doesn't have pancreatic cancer," Knight's rep Jay Schwartz later claimed. "She is okay!"

As per WDIV, a local television station in Detroit, Michigan, Knight claimed to have "the same illness" as Franklin while at the Queen of Soul's service at Greater Grace Temple. 

Knight clarified the misunderstanding in a statement to Rolling Stone through Schwartz. She wanted to be clear that she and Aretha talked about having cancer and that Gladys' was stage 1 breast cancer and Aretha's was pancreatic.

As of now, she seems to be in excellent spirits and still continuing her music career actively at the age of 78.

Where Is Gladys Knight Today?

Today, Gladys Knight was at the 2022 U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. She got a roaring welcome from the audience.

Knight, who is presently touring across one country, has eight forthcoming concerts. She performed at Chrysler Hall, Norfolk, on 14 August 2022. 

Her next tour is scheduled on 17 September at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

After that, she will perform at Rollins Center Bally's Dover in Dover, DE, the United States. Her last tour of 2022 will be at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, in Indio, California, on 17 December.

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning Singer Gladys Knight Net Worth 2022

As reported by celebritynetworth.com, celebrated American singer and actor Gladys Knight's net worth is $28 million as of September 2022. 

At eight, she initially got limelight when she won Ted Mack's The Original Amateur Hour TV show contest in 1952.

Gladys decided to pursue a solo career in 1987, and she, alongside the Pips, recorded their final joint album for MC records, i.e., All Our Love (1987).

She developed and directed the Mormon-themed choir Saints Unified Voices. In addition to performing periodically at LDS church fayres, SUV has a Grammy Award-winning CD called One Voice. 

The Atlanta-born Gladys began her acting career with the 1976 movie Pipe Dreams, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year - Actress.

Gladys Knight's transformation after her appearance in the reality show, Dancing with the Stars (2012) has surprised her well-wishers.

While preparing for the reality competition series, she successfully dropped 60 pounds of body weight.

She started the calorie-restricted Getslim with the Stars program from Freshology to get ready, which did her exercise and controlled her diet.

Then, she lost a significant amount of weight while working out with Tristan MacManus, her dancing partner for the program.

Knight is now delighted that she is benefiting from better health, even though her motivation for competing in the competition may have been weight loss rather than health.
