Hubert Hurkacz comes from a tennis-obsessed household. Hubert's parents are Krzysztof Hurkacz and Zosia Maliszewska-Hurkacz.

His mother was a Polish junior tennis champion, and he had two tennis-playing uncles. Hubert's grandfather was also a professional volleyball player who competed internationally.

Hubert began playing tennis when he was five years old, thanks to his mother. Roger Federer on television inspired Hubert. He began playing tennis when he was five years old. Seeing his mum play tennis inspired him to do the same.

He began his career in 2015. In 2016, he played his debut Davis Cup match against Argentina. He played Renzo Olivo, the world No. 167, in a dead rubber when he was ranked 602.

Hubert's first wins on tour came in the first round at Roland-Garros in 2018, when he defeated Tennys Sandgren of the United States. Hurkacz won his maiden ATP Tour championship in Winston-Salem in 2019, becoming only the second Polish guy after Wojtek Fibak to do it.
