Who Is Dick Caine? All About The Australian Swim Coach Arrested Over Sexual Abuse

Dick Caine is arrested with six charges of Carnal Knowledge by a teacher to a young girl around 10-17 years. He is facing three counts of indecent assault.

At the time of the alleged offenses, carnal knowledge constituted an offense under the Crimes Act, which referred to attempted sexual assault.

Reportedly, he was denied bail and ordered to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday.

According to Kings Cross Police Area Commander Acting Superintendent Chris Nicholson, the girls, aged 16 and 17. 

"I would like to acknowledge the fortitude and bravery of the victims who have come forward regarding this incident," he remarked. "It is never easy for a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and tell their story to police."

During the 1970s, the minors were sexually abused for almost 18 months period at several locales in and around Sydney's south.

Caine was the head coach at Carss Park Swimming Pool. He retired in 2018 after more than 40 years of service.

Dick's present age is 76 years old and was born on 13 February 1947. He is a native of Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia.

He was named into the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in March of this year.

During his 51-year affiliation with the pool, he trained Seventeen Olympic and World Champion swimmers including Michelle Ford, Janelle Elford, Karen Phillips, Stacey Gartrell, and Michellie Jones.

Sports professionals namely Kostya Tszyu, Jeff Fenech, and Sonny Bill Williams have been using the pool and fitness memberships at Carrs Park since Caine was the head coach.

Jenny Caine, the wife of Dick Caine is serving for the council at the pool, according to reports.

Dick and his wife Jenny have coached generations of young kids to swim. The two are married for the last 31 years now.

The husband-and-wife duo and their committed teaching assistants have been instructing and training local swimmers in a competitive and pleasant setting for 45 years.

So far, no other information on their family has been discovered. Also, the information on their children is yet to be released.
