What Happened To Ben Foakes And Why Is He Not Playing For England? Is He Injured?

Due to a stiff back, England's wicketkeeper Ben Foakes was unable to take the field on the third day of the final Test against New Zealand.

Ben did not join England in the field after being dismissed for 360, a 31-run lead, on the third morning due to an injury issue.

Foakes returned to the team hotel in Leeds city center after lunch and will be evaluated before the fourth day of play.

England will most certainly be careful with Foakes, who missed a County Championship game with Surrey earlier this season due to a similar issue.

Foakes, 29, missed Saturday's game after complaining of back pain early in the day.

The wicket-keeper and batsman, have been away from the stadium for the entirety of Day 4 of the third Test of the ongoing New Zealand tour of England at Headingley.

After the lunch break, Foakes was sent back to the team hotel and Jonny Bairstow took over as the wicket-keeper

The England Cricket Board made the announcement that Foakes tested positive for COVID-19 before the start of play on Day 4. He won't participate in this match any longer as a result.

Foakes' back stiffness prevented him from keeping the wicket on day three of the Third LV= Insurance Test at Headingley.

According to an official statement made earlier in the day by the ECB, he later tested positive after an LFT COVID-19 test was given on the basis of a second medical evaluation yesterday evening.

Ben Foakes is not married, but he is in a long-term relationship with his lovely girlfriend, Lynsey Wilson.

The player, Wilson on the other hand has not shared much regarding his love life. The cricketer is quite private with his personal life.

Furthermore, Ben is not on any social media networks, such as Instagram or Twitter. Foakes seemed to be more concerned with his career than with anything else.

From the second Test onwards, Foakes played in England's away Test series against India in the absence of Jos Buttler.

Foakes was set to play his first home Test series, but a hamstring injury prevented him from joining England's Test squad for the series against New Zealand in 2021.
