She was TV's most-favorite villain and the cinema's well-known Valentina, a supervillain with snaked on her head. To be precise, Gil portrayed the role of Valentine, Valentina's daughter, in the 1994 film "Darna: Ang Pagbabalik."

Apart from film and TV, the late Gil also excelled in her acting career through theatre as well. She remained one of the most talked about Philippine celebrities ever.

On August 5, 2022, Cherie Gil's talent manager Annabelle Rama confirmed the news of her passing away.

Through a tweet, Rama revealed that the Ekstra actress had passed away at 5 pm today and asked the fans to pray for her. The news was later confirmed by Gil's nephew, actor Sid Lucero.

Rama and Gil had been close friends for many decades; both were actresses, while the former turned into a talent manager.

The beautiful and gifted Gil was 58 years old at the time of her death. Meanwhile, the news of her death has bombarded the Filipino biz industry and the international media as well.

Her contributions to the acting industry remain forever since she inspired many young actresses in her lifetime.

Her social media posts prior to her death suggest that she had been receiving cancer treatment in New York, for which she had even gone for a bald look.

Cherie's Facebook posts clearly indicate that she was battling cancer for a long time and had left her home country to receive cancer treatment and be with her children in the U.S.

The late actress is survived by three children, of which her son Jay is one of them.

Citing the family's pictures, the busy and cancer-stricken left no stone unturned to be with her children and live as a responsible mother. She had even taken a five-year-career gap in 1994 to be with her family.

Her dedication to both her career and family awarded her the best time, and her comeback movie "Sugatang Puso" earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2001.

TMZ reports that the late Cherie's one of two sons, Jay, was born on May 12, 1980. He is currently 47 years old but is complimented for his good looks, inherited from his mother.

He is engaged in the music industry and has a great significance in the field. Jay was often seen with his mother enjoying a great time with his two other siblings.

Gil is also survived by a daughter Bianca and a son named Raphael. These two and Jay are half-siblings since they share different fathers.

Jay Was Born From Her Relationship With Partner Leo Martinez
