Ben Freeman, a former Emmerdale star, is best known for his portrayal of Scott Windsor in the rival ITV soap opera, which he took over from Toby Cockerell.

Before departing the ITV series in 2007, Ben portrayed the part for nine years. A love triangle involving Scott's step-sister Kelly, his friend Roy Glover, Zoe Tate, and a fathering subplot were among the actor's most enduring storylines on Emmerdale.

After leaving Emmerdale, the actor appeared in several West End productions, including a run in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Additionally, Ben played Robin Hood in the 2018 film Robin Hood: The Rebellion.

Due to the court action involving Freeman's alleged sexual assault, Scott Windsor was sacked in early 2007.

According to Digital Spy, Ben Freeman was dismissed from Emmerdale on December 16, 2007. The ITV website asserts that, for pragmatic reasons, Freeman chose not to renew his contract. At the end of 2007, his contract was scheduled to end.

Freeman, however, decided to leave the series publicly in June 2009.

Scott experienced plenty of turmoil in Emmerdale, including his romance with Chloe Atkinson (Amy Nuttall). Scott had a one-night encounter with Zoe Tate (Leah Bracknell), who became pregnant while he was with Chloe.

At that point, Zoe's brother Chris (Peter Amory) decided to exact revenge on Scott and even went so far as to set fire to his garage.

Before relocating to London to stay with a friend in 2007, Scott had affairs with Debbie Dingle and his new step-sister, Dawn Woods.

When Ben Freeman was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Barbados in 2006, his reputation and career were shattered. He was cleared of assaulting the British tourist last October of 2008 by a unanimous verdict from the jury.

In 2006, while both were vacationing with their families at the upscale Almond Beach resort on the island, he had first met the girl, a British national who remained nameless.

The allegation, he claimed, had devastated him, and since the occurrence in November 2006, he had been "free" from his contract with Emmerdale.
