Why Is Kelli Giddish Leaving SVU?
After eleven seasons with "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Kelli Giddish has recently announced in an emotional IG post about her exit from the drama.
Giddish, who acts as Detective Amanda Rollins on SVU, put to rest any rumors about the duration of her stay on the program in a statement released to USA TODAY by NBC on Wednesday.
"I wanted to address the discussion I've seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on 'Law & Order: SVU," the actress wrote in the statement posted on Instagram.
As of now, the actress didn't explain the reason for leaving the crime drama series. She remarked that "performing Rollins has been one of (her) life's greatest thrills and privileges."
Kelli further added, "There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well."
The actress also expressed her gratitude to the writers who gave her the role of detective Amanda and provided her a platform, as well as to Dick Wolf, Mariska Hargitay, Warren Leight, Peter Jankowski, NBC, and Universal Television.
